Classroom Support Teacher
- collaborate with parents, administration, teachers, support staff, TEAM and liaise with outside agencies to coordinate supports and services regarding student specific accommodations, strategies, modifications and alternate programming.
- helps at the front office coordinate parents, students, phone calls, busing issues
- provide information and resources to teachers regarding exceptionalities and the program planning process.
- collaborate in the development and implementation of behavior management plans.
- provide classroom, small group and individual instruction to students as required.
- take the lead in the development of alternate programs, courses and curriculum and collaborate with classroom teachers and educational assistants in the delivery of the outcomes.
- direct and monitor educational assistants working in the inclusive classroom.
- take the lead in assessment and evaluation of alternate programming in collaboration with classroom teachers.
- coordinate the implementation of assessment and monitor all records.
- schedule test and writing accommodations.
- plan, coordinate, schedule and implement TEAM meetings and action plans and provide conference notes to all parties involved.
- participate in joint parent/teacher meetings as agreed upon with the classroom teacher.
- attend district Classroom Support Teacher meetings as scheduled.
- assist and coordinate the completion of referrals for all services.
- review all current, incoming and outgoing Student Records and ensure their completion and accuracy.
- Monitor literacy.
- complete Code Add Change Delete forms and maintain school coding lists.
- monitor ongoing changes to Alberta Education Inclusive Education policies.
- confirm medical alert list and ensure data is available to all staff.
- coordinate the formation and implementation of Individual Program Plans (IPP's) for coded and uncoded students.
- coordinate transition meetings between teachers, education assistants, administration and parents.
- report monthly at regular staff meetings.
- Ensure all assistive technology and FM systems are functional.
- directly monitor students with severe disabilities in the classroom.
